Mark Your Calendar: Giving Tuesday

“In October 2018, I was 8 weeks pregnant and excited to start a family! 

I woke up to get ready for work and did not feel well. As I continued to get ready for work, I passed out at my house. My husband knew immediately that something was really wrong. He put me in the car and rushed me to the Emergency Room at Tahoe Forest Hospital. 

Moments after checking in, we quickly learned that I had just had a ruptured ectopic pregnancy and I was severely bleeding internally.  I had lost a significant amount of blood. It was touch-and-go, and my life was on the line. Thanks to the quick medical decisions of Dr. Streit and the hospital staff, I still stand here today to tell my story. 

After a long road of ups and downs, a lengthy and exhausting recovery, and the heartbreak of my pregnancy, our journey came full circle this year! On September 3rd, 2020, my husband, Matt, and I welcomed our healthy, beautiful baby boy, Patrick James, into the world. I delivered at the Joseph Family Center for Women and Newborn Care – which happens to be where I was born, too!

I feel so fortunate to have received great care right here at home in Truckee!  Thank you Tahoe Forest Hospital.”
