Lip Lift

A lip lift is a permanent cosmetic procedure that reduces the space between the nose and the top part of the lip, giving the mouth a more pronounced, youthful appearance.

Local anesthesia in the area will be administered. During the procedure, your surgeon will make an incision, remove excess skin between the bottom of your nose and upper lip, and lift your upper lip or lips into position. The location and number of incisions vary depending on the type of lip lift procedure. The incisions are closed with small stitches to complete the lip lift procedure. The procedure will typically take less than an hour, though the time frame can vary based on the type of lip lift that’s performed.

Healing of the surgical site can take six to eight weeks. Within a week of the lip lift procedure, the swelling and bruising should start to go away, and it should disappear within a month. Your lips may feel tight for a couple of months. In some cases, it may take up to six months for your lips to feel completely normal.

You may be able to return to work within a few days after the procedure. Strenuous activities, such as strength training and heavy lifting, should be avoided for two weeks. Specific instructions will be given by your surgeon on when it’s safe for you to go back to your regular activities.

With age, the space between the nose and lips typically increases and can make lips look thinner. A lip lift can be a good option for older people who want to reduce the space between the lips and the nose.
