Community Health Survey Begins in March- Participation Requested to Help Create a Healthier Community
Tahoe Forest Health System (TFHS) has launched its fifth Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA) with support from Professional Research Consultants (PRC), a nationally-recognized healthcare research firm.
The assessment includes two opportunities for community members to provide input. Starting early March, PRC will be contacting randomly selected Truckee and North Tahoe residents via phone to ask about key health issues in our community. If contacted, residents are encouraged to participate. The survey will help identify our region’s most pressing health needs, guiding how TFHS and partner agencies develop and improve local healthcare services and resources.
The second opportunity to participate is through an online link that will be open until May 30, 2025, and can be found at www.TFHD.com/CHNA. All interested community members are invited to take the online survey.
All survey answers are confidential, and respondents may participate in English or Spanish. Communities from Truckee to Donner Summit and from Tahoma to Incline Village on the west and north shores of Lake Tahoe will be included in the survey.
“Community participation in the health survey is essential,” said Louis Ward, Interim CEO of Tahoe Forest Health System. “The insights gathered will help guide local agencies and Tahoe Forest Health System in addressing health needs and enhancing the well-being of our community.”
The call will last approximately 20 minutes, and the survey interviewer may ask about access to health care, behaviors such as physical activity and alcohol use, prevalence of diabetes and cardiovascular disease, cancer screenings, and immunizations. Additional questions include oral health, mental health, social connectedness, and emergency preparedness.
“At Tahoe Forest Health System, we value input from our community,” said Megan Shirley, PA-C Population Health Medical Director with Tahoe Forest Community Health. “The insights provided about the health and well-being of our community members and their families are essential. This survey provides an opportunity to help us shape the future of healthcare in the Truckee and North Tahoe region.”
