With appreciation, Louis Ward Interim CEO Tahoe Forest Health System

Greetings from Tahoe Forest Health System!

Welcome to our revamped Tahoe Forest Health System eNews. This is where we will share exciting info about new services and technologies, introduce you to our new providers, inform you about upcoming events, and keep you up-to-date on everything happening within the health system.

This year marks the 75th anniversary of the Tahoe Forest Health System, and we invite you to celebrate with us on Sunday, October 6th at the Fall Festival & Fun Run at the Truckee Regional Park. This free, family-friendly event features fall-themed activities, live music, food trucks, and a community health fair. The celebration continues on Friday, November 1st with our 75th Anniversary Gala at the North Tahoe Event Center, as we bring back favorite local chefs from Best of Tahoe Chefs for an extraordinary evening of unforgettable food, wine, and community spirit. I hope you will join us!

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and I encourage all women to talk to their doctor about their breast cancer risk and to schedule a mammogram, if appropriate. 50% of all breast cancer deaths could be prevented with an annual screening. We offer mammograms at both Tahoe Forest Hospital and Incline Village Community Hospital, with no physician order required and free or low-cost options available. Learn more on our website.

October 6-12th is National Physician Assistant (PA) Week, during which we recognize and honor the outstanding PAs here in our community. Thank you to all of the amazing PAs who work tirelessly to keep us healthy!

Lastly, as Halloween approaches, I want to remind everyone to prioritize safety while celebrating. Whether with family or friends, please be mindful of your surroundings and have fun safely!

With appreciation,

Louis Ward

Tahoe Forest Health System celebrates Breast Cancer Awareness Month this October.

50% of all breast cancer-related deaths could be prevented with an annual mammogram.

Both Tahoe Forest Hospital and Incline Village Community Hospital offer Genius AI™ 3D Mammography™, the most advanced breast cancer detection technology available. This breakthrough technology significantly improves accuracy, detecting 20-65% more invasive breast cancers than traditional 2D mammography, especially for women with dense breast tissue. It also reduces callbacks by up to 40%, offering quicker, more thorough results. Learn more about how quick and easy it is to get a mammogram.

Schedule your mammogram today by calling (530) 582-6510. No physician’s order is required for screenings, and free or reduced-cost options may be available.

Bicycle Retrofitting
Road/Mountain/Gravel/Cyclocross Bikes
1.5 hour appointment
*Ask your provider about using your insurance plan for payment*

Our specialized bicycle retrofitting service is designed to help you achieve an optimal riding position tailored to your unique needs.

This service is offered at each of our 3 therapy clinics: Truckee, Tahoe City, and Incline Village.

Each bike retrofit session is based on the individual rider’s needs. We will consider pre-existing orthopedic conditions and ride style when performing a fit. The goal is to achieve an efficient pedaling position in order to reduce stress on joints; therefore, reducing or eliminating existing pain and preventing future overuse injuries.

Proper bicycle fitting ensures comfort, efficiency, and injury prevention
This is an excellent service for those experiencing pain at the knee, neck, hands, back, saddle, and more! The therapist will observe you pedaling your bike on a trainer in the clinic. They will take note of contact points and angles. The therapist will make adjustments as able in order to improve body positioning. Adjustments can include moving the seat height, saddle fore and aft, cleat position, etc. They may also make recommendations for alternative parts to purchase at a local bike shop in order to improve positioning beyond the constraints of your bike if necessary.
