Sterile Processing Upgrades and Surgery Suite Renovation to Increase Surgical Services at IVCH
To help meet the needs of the community by providing surgical services locally, IVCH is planning to upgrade its surgery suite and sterile processing department. This project will offer greater comfort to patients by allowing them to access surgical care much closer to home and will give IVCH the opportunity to conduct more advanced surgical procedures. IVCH administration has determined that the best way to provide safe, quality surgical care for every patient, every time is to invest in the following:
- Create a procedure room for gastrointestinal endoscopy procedures
- Upgrade to automated cleaning and sterilization equipment for surgical tool processing
The Sterile Processing Department (SPD) is often an "out of sight, out of mind" operation for many hospitals because they do not work directly with patients, but sterile processing plays a very important role in patient care. As you can imagine, providing sterile and properly working instruments for each surgical procedure and to other multi-specialty clinics is of utmost importance to doctors and the safety of their patients. During the past two years, the IVCH Foundation has been raising funds for the sterile processing and surgery suite upgrades. The overall cost of the project for new equipment and renovations is budgeted to be over $2,000,000.
This project will not be possible without the community’s philanthropic support. We are already off to a great start and will continue to focus on raising funds for this project during our 2020 End of Year Appeal.
