Alan Kern grew up in Southern California. He received his Bachelor of Engineering degree from Princeton and an MBA from Stanford. Alan is also a certified public accountant.
Alan spent the majority of his career helping small businesses grow and develop. He was president and board member of a leading US manufacturer of retail store equipment. Subsequently, as Director of Operations and CFO, Alan helped build a home health care company providing oxygen and respiratory medication to patients with chronic respiratory diseases, which operated in more than 150 locations and created $250 million in annual revenue. More recently, Alan has provided interim CFO services on a consulting basis to companies which have an urgent need for financial leadership.
Alan has previously served on the board of the Los Angeles Child Guidance Clinic, and currently serves as a partner with Project Redwood, a nonprofit partnership of Stanford Business School alumni, which empowers social entrepreneurs worldwide to alleviate global poverty and to improve the lives and prospects of the at-risk.
Alan and his wife Jane have three children and one granddaughter. His family has been coming to Truckee for the past 17 years and in 2019, Alan and his wife relocated to Truckee full time. Alan enjoys the outdoors, particularly tennis, skiing, hiking and fishing.
