Profile
Born and raised in Sydney, Australia, Dr Sonia Reichert embarked on her medical career in the United States for clinical training, where she also worked in medical education and authored several books and education material on the US licensing examination.
She completed her Internal Medicine Residency training at SUNY Downstate in Brooklyn, New York City, also serving as Assistant Chief Resident at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and completed her Hematology/Oncology Fellowship at Mount Sinai Hospital where she also served as Chief Fellow. She then moved to California 10 years ago where she has worked as a Hematologist/Oncologist at Woodland Healthcare within Dignity Health for 10 years. Whilst in this role, she also served as the Regional Director of Oncology Research for the Greater Sacramento area, Director of Genetic Counseling for cancer patients, Director of Integrative Oncology, Director of Quality and Chief of Staff for the Woodland Memorial Hospital.
Dr. Reichert’s philosophy of care is that successful cancer treatment involves taking this journey hand in hand with her patients and supporting their unique medical and personal needs at every step of the way. She is passionate about delivering high quality cancer care to local communities.
Dr. Reichert joined Tahoe Forest Health System in 2023. With her husband, they share three school-aged children together, a goldendoodle, and a rescue cat. She and her family have made Truckee their home and enjoy the mountains, lake activities, skiing, and hiking.
