Tahoe Forest Health System, located in the North Lake Tahoe basin, is coordinating a rural health conference designed specifically for healthcare providers. This is offered to those that are interested in rural health care, including physicians, nurses, educators, academics, hospital administrators, clinic directors, and medical students.
Betsy Thompson, MD, DrPH,Chief Medical Officer, CMS, Region IX, will address the future of health care reform.
Robert G. Gish, MD, Director of Clinical Hepatology, UC San Diego Health Care System, will discuss Hepatitis C and NASH.
Michael Wilkes, MD, Professor of Global Health at University of California, Davis, will review best practices in cancer screening.
Paul S. Auerbach, MD, MS, FACEP, FAWM, , Redlich Family Professor of Surgery in the Division of Emergency Medicine at Stanford University School of Medicine, will share his experience with the emergency medical response to Haiti imediately after the 2010 earthquake.
Thomas L Schwenk, MD, Dean of the University of Nevada School of Medicine, will discuss altering your practice for the new reimbursement paradigms.
Don Hilty, MD, Professor of Clinical Psychiatry, University of California, Davis, will review the management of psychiatric disorders in the rural setting.
Jeri Bigbee, PhD, RN, FNC-BC, FAAN, will discuss the role of physician assistants and nurse practitioners in rural practice.
Jennifer Wilson, MD, Emergency Services Medical Director, Saint Mary’s Medical Center, will review challenging clinical cases.
Howard Donner, MD, served as an Expedition Physician on the 1988 Kangchenjunga Expedition, the 1998 NOVA Everest Expedition and as the Director of the Denali medical rescue camp as a medical officer on the Denali Medical Research Project.
