North Lake Tahoe Community Health Care Auxiliary
The North Lake Tahoe Community Health Care Auxiliary (NLTCHCA) is a nonprofit corporation made up of dedicated volunteers who give their time and financial resources to help others. Membership is currently 70 volunteers. The auxiliary is an integral part of Incline Village Community Hospital. Members of the hospital auxiliary enjoy giving back to the community and invite you to join them.
- To raise funds used toward the purchase of specialized medical equipment
- To help improve the quality of care our hospital patients receive
- To fund scholarships for students entering the health care field
- To consider requests for health care needs within the community
The auxiliary also operates a year-round gift shop with an all-volunteer staff on the first floor of the hospital. The gift shop offers unique merchandise, which is constantly being updated.
The NLTCHCA Executive Board meets on the first Monday of every month, and general membership lunch meetings are held every other month on the second Monday beginning in February. The monthly "Hot Flashes!" newsletter keeps members informed of past and upcoming activities.
The North Lake Tahoe Community Health Care Auxiliary is active in fundraising for Incline Village Community Hospital and other causes in the local community. In any given month, you'll find auxiliary members contributing to the community through the gift of funds for special projects, hosting events that bring people together, and helping to raise money for many worthy projects. Most of the auxiliary's fundraising activities take place during the summer and have traditionally included a "Classy Garage Sale" in June, a lobster dinner in July, and a golf tournament in September. In addition, the auxiliary hosts monthly hospital staff luncheons, and members serve as ambassadors of the hospital with internal and external audiences.
The auxiliary was reinvigorated in 1994 and became truly active when the hospital reopened to the public as Incline Village Community Hospital in 1996. During the auxiliary’s past 21 years, the organization has donated more than $457,000 to the hospital and $216,544 in scholarships to students going into medically related fields and has given more than 100,150 hours of volunteer service to the hospital and the community.
Two of our members, Nan Healy and Ginny Moore, were recognized in the Bonanza newspaper's "Locals 2006" for their selfless service to Incline Village. Nan Healy, Jean Klein and Holly Lefkowitz have received Excellence in Volunteerism awards from the Nevada Hospital Association for rural Nevada.
2016 officers are: Nan Healy, president; Cecilia Weyland, vice president; Svata Trossen, secretary; Lorri Waldman, treasurer; and Jan Horan, gift shop.
